Sign-up procedure of the International High IQ Society

How to join

How can you join the International High IQ Society? This page explains our membership criteria and sign-up procedure. Please carefully read this information.

  • Adults only | You should be at least 18 years of age. We kindly request that you provide your date of birth when applying. Please do not apply at an earlier age or on behalf of a minor as a parent or guardian. You can use a test taken as a minor to apply once you are at least 18 years old.

  • A top-5% IQ | We ask you to attach proof of this. We explain what kind of proof in more detail below. Scores are not always distributed in the same way following different tests, but for a standard deviation of 15, this should be at least a 124 IQ. You will notice that many members are way above the 95th percentile. Some may experience anxiety or disadvantages due to neurodivergence when it comes to testing; therefore, we are “only” a top 5% society and have never opted for a higher percentile as a minimum. Rest assured, this does not make us a less exciting place to be.
  • A high EQ | We build a community of kindness. Your intentions align with this. You possess high emotional intelligence and are not here solely to use your membership as a status symbol. You will adhere to our community guidelines.

Submitting evidence of a >95th percentile IQ

Option 1: Our online, self-administered test

Have you never taken an intelligence test before? You can take an online test within 30 minutes. Joining a high IQ society doesn’t have to be a tedious and slow process. Many online tests exist, and we solely work with our partner 123Test, who provides validated online intelligence tests. For these tests, a score in the 95th percentile corresponds with a an IQ of 124 (SD15).

Prospective members can take the certified online admissions Culture Fair Intelligence Test, hosted by our partner 123Test. You can take the free short demo IQ test first if you like (auch auf Deutsch: IQ-test), but the demo results do not confirm your eligibility to join the International High IQ Society. After taking the full admissions test you can download an IQ certificate which you can upload during your membership request as proof of a sufficiently high IQ score.

We do not accept any other (unproctored) online test that is not officially recognized or certified by the International High IQ Society. This includes the demo version of the 123Test admissions test.

Option 2: Other qualifying tests

Other qualifying tests are supervised IQ tests that require a score in the top five percent. Scores that correspond with a >95% percentile may vary, because the standard deviation (SD) is not identical for all these intelligence tests. These tests have to be administered by a certified professional, such as a psychologist, or by a recognized educational institution.

Online (sample) versions of these or any other tests are not accepted. Tests taken as a minor can be submitted as proof once you reach the age of 18. Although our primary language is English, we are able to decipher test reports in other languages. If you submit scanned hardcopies in non-European languages that render translation tools useless, we may ask you for a typed document in addition.

  • Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scales (WAIS)

  • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC)
  • Kinder IQ Test Plus (KIQT+, an intelligence test developed for gifted children)
  • Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities

  • Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales

  • Raven’s Progressive Matrices

  • Miller Analogies Test

  • Cattell Culture Fair Test

  • College admission tests: SAT, ACT, GMAT

  • A 95th percentile score on any other validated supervised test – we will look into it following your application

Option 3: Other high IQ societies

Many high IQ societies exist, and some are obscure, have vague selection criteria, or are barely active. As the world’s largest high IQ society for people with an intelligence in the top five percent, we have therefore carefully selected a number of selection criteria from thrustworthy high IQ societies that automatically make you eligible to join the International High IQ Society.

International High IQ Society

  • Lapsed prior membership of our International High IQ Society (top 5%): Have you been a member in the past, or are you a legacy member who has not found their way back to our new Member Platform, launched in 2022? Please send us any old certificate or e-mail communications you may have saved. Depending on your prior membership type, you may or may not have to pay our sign-up fee.

Mensa

  • Membership of Mensa International (top 2% or 98th percentile), or any national Mensa organization: American Mensa, British Mensa, Mensa Germany, Mensa Canada, or Mensa Nederland, for example.

  • A lapsed Mensa membership card: you have been a member of Mensa in the past, but not anymore.

  • A Mensa acceptance letter: you’ve obtained a score in the top 2%, but may or may not have become a member of Mensa.

  • A Mensa rejection letter stating a score in the top 5% on at least one of their test batteries.

Intertel

  • Membership of Intertel (top 1% or 99th percentile; formerly the International Legion of Intelligence)

  • Lapsed Membership of Intertel: you have proof of being a former member of Intertel

Triple Nine Society

  • Membership of the Triple Nine Society (top 0.1% or 99.9th percentile)
  • Lapsed Membership of the Triple Nine Society: you have proof of being a former member of the Triple Nine Society

International Society for Philosophical Enquiry

  • Membership of the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry (top 0.1% or 99.9th percentile; also known as ISPE and The Thousand(R))

  • Lapsed Membership of the ISPE: you have proof of being a former member of the ISPE

Option 4: Giftedness Assessments

Fear of failure, general anxiety, trauma, dyslexia and other neurodivergence may hamper your ability to take an intelligence test. For these or other reasons, you may opt for a giftedness assessment instead. Going beyond the IQ, an assessment appraises your intense nature, gifts and talents that shouldn’t be excluded by a high IQ society. We would not want to exclude you if you very well fit the bill of being in the top 5%, but like to have this backed up by a professional.

  • The InterGifted giftedness assessment estimates your level of giftedness, areas of intelligence, possible twice-or multi-exceptionalities, and any overexcitabilities in your profile. We ask for proof that the assessment took place as well as your level of giftedness based on the assessment. You should be assessed as moderately gifted, highly gifted, exceptionally gifted or profoundly gifted.

  • The Daimon Institute specializes in the exceptionally or profoundly gifted (EPG). We ask for proof that you have been a client there and have been assessed as such.

  • Exceptionally and profoundly gifted (EPG) members of the Dutch and Flemish Stichting Hoogbegaafd! – Uitzonderlijk Hoogbegaafd! community for highly, exceptionally, and profoundly gifted adults (HEPG), by exception and through multiple referrals of existing, overlapping members.

Community guidelines

Building a community of kindness

The International High IQ Society is a community of kind people with an IQ in the top 5% and also a high EQ. As such, we have specific expectations that help us maintain a community where genuine people find each other based on shared interests and passions.

Joining us requires adherence to our rules of conduct. Of course, you may kick the ball a bit harder in some spaces, such as in our Roadhouse. Never kick the player.

Regarding sales and marketing: The International High IQ Society is for networking and connecting. In doing so, you may get to know each other’s businesses and make use of any professional services they offer, which is something else than just posting marketing stuff al the time.

Regarding profile names: Use your full profile name or abbreviate your first or last name. You can mention your company, stance, or nickname in your profile introduction. Else you won’t be admitted to our hubs. We are all about connecting real people, not organizations or fake people. Stay real.

Regarding AI: Again, keep it real. We are not interested in AI-generated posts and comments. We want to interact with genuine people. Our primary language is English in most parts of the community, and if you have trouble understanding English, you may use a translation tool to help you understand what is posted.
